Why Diffuse?

Everything you smell immediately effects the Limbic System of the brain.  The Limbic System is responsible for emotions, memories, hormones, autonomic influence and more.

Since we began diffusing in our home, we have noticed an night and day difference in how we sleep and in how we feel.  We diffuse every night in every bedroom in our home.  We fall asleep faster, sleep deeper, and wake up completely refreshed.  If anyone is feeling slightly under the weather, we diffuse the appropriate oils and they awake in the morning restored.   During the day, we diffuse to meet the needs of our family – uplifting, increased focus and concentration, relaxing or grounding.  The possibilities are endless.

What is it and what does it do?
Reflexology is the use of pressure points on the body used to interact with the body’s  nervous system in a positive and beneficial way.  Two of the more common areas for reflexology are the hands and feet.  Benefits of reflexology are pain management, relaxation, reducing the body’s stress level, improving circulation and more.  When combined with the use of pure essential oils, reflexology can be highly effective and beneficial.  Use the oil or oils of choice and gently message the area of concern.

How to Apply Oils

When selecting an oil, it is important to know your skin type – sensitive vs normal.  This dilution guide is based on average skin.

image

Neat means the oil can be applied straight to the skin with no dilution.

Sensitive means that dilution is recommended for those with sensitive skin.

Dilute means that the oil is considered ‘hot’ and should always be diluted with a carrier oil (like Fractionated Coconut Oil).

Where do I apply the oils?
Oils can be applied virtually anywhere on the body.  There is no right or wrong way as long as you are following the dilution recommendations.  It just depends on the desired result you are trying to achieve.

If you are addressing a pain or discomfort rub the oil where it hurts or where it is tender.

If you are trying to get topical and aromatic benefits from the oil apply it behind the ears.   Some oils, like Frankincense, can actually cross the blood/brain barrier so applying them behind the ears and over the lymph glands can be highly beneficial.

If you are applying an oil that you do not want to smell, apply it to your feet.  Also, if you are trying to get an oil into your bloodstream as quickly as possible apply it to your feet as your feet have the largest pores on your body.

If you are trying to have an oil effect your entire system quickly, apply  it along your spine.  For instance, to support your immune system when dealing with seasonal threats you can apply certain essential oils along the spine and on the bottoms of the feet.

If you are trying to affect a specific area of the body see Reflexology.

If you are trying to impact the Limbic System see Diffusing.
